Introducing Aurora Chiropractor Dr. Jonathan Truhlar

“I had no idea of what chiropractic was,” remembers Dr. Truhlar.  “At the age of 12, I had been suffering with severe migraine headaches and chronic middle ear infections. I can still recall the debilitating pain in my head that would require me to hide in a dark, quiet room to lessen the severity; and the chronic ear infections causing so much pain that I was unable at times to engage in activities that I loved.”

“My parents decided to bring me to see a chiropractor,” continues Dr. Truhlar. “I was examined by Dr. Jerold Morantz, D.C. and found to have a vertebral subluxations of the top vertebra under my skull, called the Atlas. I received several adjustments from Dr. Morantz over the next few weeks time and it changed my life! My headaches began to diminish slowly over those few weeks and went away completely. The chronic ear infections never returned. To me, this was my miracle and although I didn't really understand how chiropractic works, I knew from the age of 12 that I wanted to help as many people as I could through chiropractic care.”

Dr. Truhlar began his pre-chiropractic education at Olivet Nazarene University where he studied the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses. After completing his study there, he was accepted at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. During his four years at Palmer, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, x-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Palmer College Outreach Clinics. After graduating in 2002 and achieving NBCE Board Certification, Dr. Truhlar returned to the Chicagoland area to establish his practice.

While in private practice, Dr. Truhlar completed post-graduate studies in naturopathic medicine at the American Naturopathic Medical Institute and achieved USNLB Board Certification. Dr. Truhlar considers naturopathic medicine a perfect compliment to chiropractic care as both philosophies maintain that “the body heals itself” and that if the problem is removed and the immune system given what it needs, the body will heal itself and no harm will be caused to the body.  Dr. Truhlar's curriculum vitae is available here.

Dr. Truhlar has a philosophy and a practice that is built around treating the patient as a whole as no two patients are the same. Dr. Truhlar combines spinal rehabilitation and advanced spinal bio-mechanics to achieve spinal corrections. Dr. Truhlar will incorporate naturopathic protocols and methods into a patient's chiropractic treatment plan in order to provide a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.

Dr. Truhlar and his wife Jennifer have three children, Mia, Jacob, and Simon. All three children were born at home and have never been vaccinated. (If that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Dr. Truhlar to explain!)

Dr. Truhlar spends most of his leisure time with his family, what he considers to be his ”greatest blessing”. He also enjoys reading non-fiction and studying martial arts.  Dr. Truhlar is committed to maintaining his health and the health of his family. He and his family recieve regular chiropractic adjustments and apply natural medicines when health concerns arise.

Dr. Truhlar Asks some important questions of interest to Aurora residents - Chiropractor Aurora Dr. Truhlar Asks...

What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Aurora parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
